Privacy notice
Template. A plain-English starting point for UK GDPR. Have a solicitor review it, fill in your registered business details, and check whether you need to pay the ICO's data protection fee before launch.
Who we are
Aryaga ("we") runs memorial photo galleries at this website. We are the data controller for the information described below. Contact: hello@aryaga.co.uk.
What we collect
Photos. Photos uploaded by the family and by guests. These may include images of
identifiable people, including you.
Names. The name of the person the gallery remembers, and the optional name a guest gives
when sharing photos (shown as "shared by" on their photos).
Technical information. Basic logs kept by our hosting providers (such as IP addresses)
to run and secure the service. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies; a cookie is used
only to keep the gallery manager signed in to the admin area.
Why we can use it
We host galleries to fulfil our agreement with the person who arranged the gallery (contract), and we display photos shared by family and guests on the basis of our and their legitimate interest in remembering the person, always balanced against the interests of people shown in the photos. You can object at any time — see "Your rights".
Where it's stored
Photos and gallery details are stored with Supabase (our database and file storage, hosted in the UK/EU region we select) and the website is served by Netlify. Both act as our processors under their data processing terms.
How long we keep it
Photos and names are kept while the gallery is online and are permanently deleted within 30 days of the gallery expiring or being closed. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to a photo of you being shown — the quickest route is to email hello@aryaga.co.uk with a link to the photo. If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
